I started writing you this missive from the Oregon Coast, where I was on a family vacation, with both of my adult children and their families (five grands, four of them of the male persuasion) and our dear BFFs from Denver with their four kids and two grandchildren. Besides sitting on the sand at our specially constructed wind breaks all day where we read, chat, stare at the ocean, read some more, and build sand castles and jump waves, there were riotous Happy Hours and lots of delicious food. (Except I’m doing Noom. Hahahaha. No, really, I am. It’s a pretty easy program to follow, even while on vacation.)
But now its two weeks since I’ve been home and my tan is fading along with my memories of the pelicans swooping love over the sea. But I’m pretty sure you don’t care about that because you’re likely not here for my vacation report—you want to know about my books. Because this is an author newsletter, after all.
The big news is that my stand-alone women’s fiction novel, The Bonne Chance Bakery comes out on September 28th (my beloved son’s birthday). I’m so excited about this book, as it has been the novel of my heart for a long time and it’s had a torturous route to publication.
But that’s a story for a different day because my book baby’s time has come at last! Here’s what Camille Pagan, best-selling author of Live and Other Near-Death Experiences had to say about it: “Some of life’s curveballs are actually serendipity in disguise, as a woman trying to navigate love, business, and yes, baked goods discovers in Charlotte Dixon’s new novel. As charming as it is compulsively readable, The Bonne Chance Bakery is a delicious story and I can’t recommend it highly enough.”
I could tell you more but I’ll save that for another post. Because I’m new at this indie publishing game, the novel will be available only on Amazon (in both Kindle and print versions) to start. When I get more familiar with this game, I’ll branch out.
Fast on the heels of the Bonne Chance will come a Christmas novella that I still need a title for. It is set in the Calderwood Grove world, which is the location for several upcoming releases.
And don’t forget my horse of a very different color, my debut novel, Emma Jean’s Bad Behavior. Emma Jean’s outspoken brash, brazen and a total pain in the rear. She also hates babies—maybe you can guess how things go from there. You can buy her right here.
Meanwhile, I’d love to hear from you. Feel free to comment or respond with questions about writing, publishing (trad or indie), Oregon wine country, or which one of my grandchildren I love best. (Hint: it’s all of them.) I’m also into knitting, stitching, quilting, crosswords, and good food. So if you have anything to say on any of those topics, feel free!
That typewriter. Wow. (Envy is just flying all about.)
I'm excited to read The Bonne Chance Bakery! I'm very much in need of something charming, and soon.
Also, I love the new newsletter. I'm looking forward to learning more about this platform.
I finally know the title of the book I'm looking forward to reading soon. Your writing entertains and informs me, and I look forward to the novella and all of your future releases!
